Hope and love, the twin pillars of the pro-life movement

by | Mar 8, 2024

Have you ever known someone who offered a ray of sunshine on the stormiest days? An individual who could help you see a path forward as dark clouds of despair seemed to swirl around you? A person who lit up the way with an optimism that you had forgotten amidst your troubles?

It’s been my experience that every pro-lifer is that uplifting individual—the one who brings the light of hope into the lives of pregnant women facing uncertainty…older people facing loneliness…and people with disabilities facing discrimination.

And these incredible qualities are what set the pro-life movement apart.

While for some it would be far too easy to give in to what’s been described as our “culture of death,” pro-lifers just keep on going. This explains how the movement is stronger and more vibrant than ever today, thanks in no small part to the infusion of young people.

When the U.S. Supreme Court issued its tragic ruling known as Roe v. Wade, it might have seemed as if the abortion lobby had had the last word. That was certainly the message from the media! But it did not. Pro-lifers would not allow that. The result was the June 24, 2022 Dobbs decision which overturned Roe!

From one end of this country to the other, pro-lifers became re-energized and mobilized. As a result, generations of young women have come to know their compassion, their wisdom, and their love.

We mourn the loss of the more than 65 million irreplaceable individuals whose lives that were lost to Roe. And we share the grief of mothers, fathers, grandparents, and siblings who have lost family members to abortion.

But darkness can never ultimately overcome light, and truth can, must, and will win out in the end.

The twin pillars of the pro-life movement are hope and love. With these and your unfailing dedication, we will rebuild a culture of life for our children, our grandchildren, and all those we cherish.
