A recent Zogby poll clearly shows that a significant majority of Americans reject abortion in most circumstances, including women (56%), African Americans (62%), Hispanics (79%), and young adults (61%). In spite of this growing pro-life majority, Senator John Kerry continues to make it absolutely clear that he desperately wants to be the Abortion President.
So far Mr. Kerry has proclaimed there are two first things he will do if elected President: 1) reverse the pro-life Mexico City Policy, thereby forcing taxpayers to give money to groups that promote abortion overseas; and 2) use taxpayer dollars to pay for the killing of thousands of human embryos, in the name of research.
Mr. Kerry wants to force every taxpayer to subsidize abortion; he is devoted to keeping legal that hideous practice known as partial-birth abortion, voting for it six times; he says he will appoint only pro-abortionists to the bench; and he wants to export the cruelty of abortion to developing countries around the world.
He and his running mate, Senator John Edwards, are trying to advance their political careers on the broken bodies of children and their moms. That's pathetic. How sad, tragic, and dangerous that is to countless children and their mothers. Women deserve better than abortion, and children deserve the right to live.
Mr. Kerry and others should know that Americans, in ever-growing numbers, are finally coming to understand that abortion is violence against children and that abortion exploits and harms women.
Americans, at long last, are shocked to learn that abortion methods dismember, mutilate, decapitate, and chemically poison the child. The debate on the violence of partial-birth abortion has exposed the truth that abortion is child abuse in the extreme.
We have learned that during an abortion unborn children experience excruciating pain, more than an adult or newborn would feel in a similarly violent attack, because their skin is so sensitive and they do not yet have the capability to moderate pain input.
Faced with the numbing reality of an abortionist jamming scissors into the brain of a partially born child so a hose and suction device can be employed to suck the child's brains into a container, Americans have begun to connect the dots. They are seeing that all abortion methods - - not just partial-birth abortion - - are cruel and unusual punishment against helpless and innocent victims.
Americans are also shocked to learn that more than 45 million babies have been killed in the United States - - a child slaughter equal to 7 times the total number of people living in Mr. Kerry's state of Massachusetts. Abortion is a weapon of mass destruction.
Recently, Dr. Alveda King, niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., said about abortion, "How can the dream survive if we murder the children?"
Dr. King, who has had an abortion herself but now is pro-life and bravely speaks out, said, "[We] can no longer sit idly by and allow this horrible spirit of murder to cut down, yes cut out and cut away our unborn. This is the day to choose life. We must live and allow our babies to live. If the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King is to live, our babies must live."
President Bush believes in the dream, and is determined to make it reality. Not only has he signed the ban on partial-birth abortion, the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, and the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, he has faithfully sought to promote the Culture of Life both here and overseas. His first Executive Order as President was to reinstate the pro-life Mexico City Policy and he continues to fight here and abroad against cloning and creating human embryos to be killed for research.
President Bush believes that no child - - born or unborn - - should be left behind.
President Bush believes that women deserve better than abortion and believes that non-violent alternatives, which include prenatal and maternal health care as well as the adoption option, are sensible, sane, and compassionate.
Let's be very clear. If John Kerry becomes President, no pro-life bills will be signed into law in the next four years. Abortion will be promoted like never before internationally, and it will be U.S. representatives and tax dollars doing that evil work.
And perhaps most importantly, the Supreme Court will become even more pro-abortion than it is now. John Kerry will methodically litmus test his nominees to make sure they support the taking of innocent life in the womb. If he becomes President, the Supreme Court will be his pro-abortion legacy that will last for generations to come.
The contrast is stark. President Bush believes that we should love them both, and John Kerry wants to be the abortion president.
