NRLC ANNOUNCES “REAL
WOMEN’S VOICES” LOBBYING DAY In an unprecedented effort to make pro-life women’s voices heard, several pro-life groups are working together to sponsor a women’s lobbying day in the nation’s capital called “REAL Women’s Voices.” On Wednesday, April 27, pro-life women from around the country are invited to Washington to lobby senators on pro-life issues, focusing on President Bush’s judicial nominees and the critical ban on human cloning. “Groups who support abortion are often considered to be the ‘women’s movement,’ and they want everyone to believe that they represent women,” stated Carol Tobias, political director for the National Right to Life Committee. “Polls, however, show that Americans, including women, are more pro-life than pro-abortion, and these real women are coming to Washington to lobby on behalf of women and unborn children.” Co-sponsoring organizations include the National Right to Life Committee, the Susan B. Anthony List, Concerned Women for America, Silent No More Awareness, Eagle Forum, and Family Research Council Action. The day will start with a training breakfast, where attendees will learn the specifics of how to lobby. That session will be followed by a press conference and time for participants to lobby their Senators. The day will conclude with a reception for the women lobbyists and invited pro-life members of Congress. “We are asking women who are not able to make the trip to Washington to join the event in spirit by committing to contact their Senators by phone, fax, or e-mail on April 27,” said Tobias. Whether attending the session in Washington or joining in spirit, women are asked to register in advance.
