NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE MOURNS
DEATH OF C. EVERETT KOOP
WASHINGTON – Today we learned of the
death of former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop at
the age of 96. The following may be attributed to
Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life
National Right to Life is deeply saddened by the
death of Dr. C. Everett Koop. In an era when
pro-abortionists tried to declare that the abortion
issue was “settled law,” Dr. Koop provided a voice
for the voiceless. His book, and later film series,
Whatever Happened to the Human Race, co-authored
with the late Francis Schaeffer, was a call to
action for anyone who cared about the value and
dignity of human life, but most especially the
evangelical community. To this day, Whatever
Happened to the Human Race is a must-read for its
almost prophetic anticipation of the world we live
in today.
Founded in 1968, National Right to Life, the
federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and
more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation's
oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization.
Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement,
NRLC works through legislation and education to
protect innocent human life from abortion,
infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
