TEEN DIES AFTER RU 486 ABORTION

Last week an eighteen year-old in San Francisco died following an RU 486 abortion.  Not surprisingly, her death appears to be a result of a systemic infection caused by an incomplete abortion.

We’ve been warning against this tragedy for years,” stated Laura Echevarria, director of media relations for the National Right to Life Committee.  “Sadly, this young woman isn’t the only one to suffer from this ‘complication’ of the RU 486 abortion method.”

The side effects of RU 486 make it dangerous to women because they mirror the symptoms associated with a severe infection.  Women experience severe cramping, nausea, bleeding, pain, and diarrhea, just to name a few.  Unfortunately, because these are common side effects, identifying a life threatening condition can come too late for some.

With RU 486 on the market, it is imperative that minor daughters have the protection afforded them when their parents are involved in the decision to have an abortion.  Parental consent and notification laws have been associated with a lower abortion rate among teens as well as a lower pregnancy rate in those states which have such laws.

Sadly, such laws are too late for this teenager.

There already was plenty of evidence of this drug combination's risk, now there is simply more sad proof of it’s inherent danger,” stated Echevarria.
