Fall Presents Opportunity for
Federal Employees to Help
Pro-Life Efforts via the Combined Federal Campaign
By Marie Rivers
Education is a mainstay of grassroots pro-life America. They believe
in the power of appeals to the head and to the heart.
Funds that come from pro-life federal employees who select the
National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund each fall through the
Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) help these educational efforts in
many life-affirming ways. There is still time for you to help the
NRL Trust Fund through the CFC and through state and private-sector
campaigns (see below).
The CFC activity occurs from early September through early November.
During those months, federal employees are given brochures from
which to select their favorite charity or charities. The NRL
Educational Trust Fund, agency #10542, can be located alphabetically
under the workplace federation called Human Service Charities of
America (HSCA).
Each year, NRL shares the donations generated through the CFC with
its state affiliate groups who use the funds to educate their
communities.
Last year, for example, Right to Life Educational Foundation of
Kentucky Executive Director Margie Montgomery wrote, “Thank you for
the check from annual workplace campaign contributions made through
the Combined Federal Campaign. Your gift is greatly appreciated and
will help in educating the public about the dignity and sanctity of
each human life, from fertilization to natural death. Thank you for
helping us to protect the most vulnerable members of our society.”
Connie Pratt of Colorado Citizens for Life wrote, “Our share from
the Combined Federal Campaign was a wonderful surprise. We have
designated it for educational use and we are very grateful for all
that you at National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund do for
state affiliates like our own.”
But it is the generosity of federal employees that makes it possible
for the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund to share CFC
donations with state affiliate groups. The result of this
partnership is to bolster pro-life educational efforts on behalf of
the unborn, elderly, and those with disabilities.
And there are other ways to help the Trust Fund. In addition to the
CFC, some states also conduct employee campaigns. The National Right
to Life Educational Trust Fund participates in the following:
Arizona, California, Florida, Maine, New Jersey, New York, North
Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. Funds through
these state employee campaigns are also shared with NRLC affiliates
in those states.
A final venue for workplace giving is private-sector campaigns in
which employees may write in the name of the NRL Educational Trust
Fund.
If you are a federal employee, be looking for the National Right to
Life Educational Trust Fund in your campaign brochure this fall.
Thank you for your past and future support!
