Two Spots Open for NRLC Summer Academy Program

Summer at the National Right to Life office offers a refreshing change of pace with the arrival of a number of college students to participate in the NRLC internship and academy programs. Different than a normal internship, the National Right to Life Academy is an intensive summer training course for college students in the right to life movement and issues. Students delve into the history and philosophy of the Movement, as well as seriously studying the various policy proposals and arguments related to each pro-life issue, from abortion to denial of lifesaving medial treatment.

The six summer weeks college students spend at the academy forge a lifetime connection to NRLC and the nationwide pro-life movement. The graduates of the past three sessions of this program are working for the Movement now, as college students across the country, and many are planning how they can put their professional skills to work for the cause.

Three students from the classes of 2008 and 2009 now work together at the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, and another is hoping to begin lobbying for the voiceless once she graduates college. Texas Right to Life also has a graduate of the academy on its staff. Another academy alumnus has been accepted to the Blackstone Legal Fellowship, sponsored by the Alliance Defense Fund. The network of academy alumni is a fresh source of vitality for a movement whose greatest strength may be its faithful endurance.

Two spots have just recently opened up for the 2010 summer session. The program starts at the National Right to Life Convention on June 24 and goes through August 6. The cost of tuition, room, and board is $3,200.
