NRLC President Wanda Franz to Speak at the
World Congress of Families V

NRLC President Dr. Wanda Franz will speak at the World Congress of Families V in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on August 10–12, 2009.

Dr. Wanda Franz will speak on the important topics of cloning and stem cell research. Also attending with Dr. Franz will be two members of our Outreach Department: Olivia Gans, director of American Victims of Abortion, and Raimundo Rojas, Hispanic outreach coordinator. Both have been active in working at United Nations conferences and look forward to meeting with others who are eager to prevent the United Nations from being used by pro-abortion activists for exporting the terrible practices of abortion and euthanasia throughout the world.

International conferences are important because they make it possible for those in support of the pro-life agenda throughout the world to network and support each other. The threat of pro-death policies that damage families and destroy millions of lives every year is a universal threat. The threat has grown in recent years as agencies of the United Nations have become involved in helping to spread anti-life policies. Jeanne Head, director of international relations for National Right to Life and our representative to the UN as one of the UN non-governmental organizations, has been at the center of the fight to limit the damage that could have been done.

Dozens of speakers from around the world will participate in the Congress. In addition, special invited speakers include the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, the First Lady of Mexico, and the Dutch Minister of Youth and Family.

The World Congress of Families V is the world’s largest conference of its kind. It was founded in 1995 by Dr. Allan C. Carlson. There have been four previous conferences, located in Prague (in 1997), Geneva (in 1999), Mexico City (in 2004), and Warsaw (in 2007).
