Elections
Have Consequences See if you can spot a pattern. At a March 31 town hall meeting in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Barack Obama told the audience, “I’ve got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.” Referring to the anniversary of the decision that legalized abortion on demand, Barack Obama said, “Thirty-five years after the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade, it’s never been more important to protect a woman’s right to choose.” He added, “Throughout my career, I’ve been a consistent and strong supporter of reproductive justice, and have consistently had a 100% pro-choice rating with Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.” On his website, Barack Obama says, “With one more vacancy on the Court, we could be looking at a majority hostile to a woman’s fundamental right to choose for the first time since Roe versus Wade. The next president may be asked to nominate that Supreme Court justice. That is what is at stake in this election.” In a July 17, 2007, speech to Planned Parenthood, Barack Obama said, “There will always be people, many of goodwill, who do not share my view on the issue of choice. On this fundamental issue, I will not yield …” During his speech to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund in 2007, Barack Obama promised, “…the first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act.” The Freedom of Choice Act would make partial-birth abortion legal again, require taxpayer funding of abortion, and would strike down all limitations on abortion such as parental notification laws. So, if Barack Obama becomes President, hundreds of thousands more unborn children will likely die each year. The Abortion Establishment, for whom there can never been enough abortions, is pumping tens of millions of dollars to elect their man. See if you can spot a different pattern. John McCain has said, “If I am fortunate enough to be elected as the next President of the United States, I pledge to you to be a loyal and unswerving friend of the right to life movement.” In an MSNBC interview with Chris Matthews, host of “Hardball,” John McCain said, “The rights of the unborn is one of my most important values.” John McCain told National Review, “I have many, many votes and it’s been consistent. And I’ve got a consistent zero from NARAL throughout all those years. …my record is clear. … I’ve opposed [Roe v. Wade] … because I thought it was a bad decision.” Following the Supreme Court’s decision in Gonzales v. Carhart to uphold the ban on partial-birth abortion, McCain affirmed, “Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a victory for those who cherish the sanctity of human life.” On his website, McCain says he “believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench.” In a May 6 speech at Wake Forest University, John McCain added, “I have my own standards of judicial ability… And Chief Justice [John] Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito … would serve as the model for my own nominees if that responsibility falls to me.” On January 22, on the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, while Obama was boasting about his pro-abortion record, McCain commended pro-life citizens,, “I salute you for taking the time to show that the cause of Life is alive and well in the hearts of millions of Americans.” Senators McCain and Obama are the only candidates with a real chance of becoming president. National Right to Life PAC strongly supports Senator John McCain for United States President and we have supported him in all of his U.S. Senate races. Senator John McCain has a solid voting record against abortion and has cast 31 pro-life votes since 1997 including a vote against endorsing Roe v. Wade. In addition he voted to confirm Justices Alito and Roberts. National Right to Life is grateful for his pro-life votes. In contrast, Senator Barack Obama has an extreme position and voting record in favor of abortion on demand and strongly supports the appointment of only U.S. Supreme Court Justices who favor Roe v. Wade. He even said he didn’t want his daughters “punished with a baby”. And, when Barack Obama was an Illinois state Senator, the issue of “live birth abortion” was hotly debated. In a coldly calculating procedure, the abortionist gives the woman a drug to cause her to give birth early. A living, wholly intact baby is delivered. The baby isn’t laid into his mother’s waiting arms. She doesn’t go to a nursery. She doesn’t even receive any comfort care. The baby is put on a cold hospital table and left to die. Barack Obama had the chance to support legislation to ensure that born-alive infants had the same legal status regardless of stage of development. In fact, he had three chances, but he refused to protect these vulnerable lives. Elections have consequences. The next President of the United States will likely nominate one to three justices to the U.S. Supreme Court. The next President may either sign or veto the so-called “Freedom of Choice Act,” which would obliterate the hard-won victories that pro-lifers have secured.
