Pro-Life McCain and Pro-Abortion Obama to Square Off in the Fall
BY Dave Andrusko

Exactly five months to the day after results from the Iowa caucuses turned the political world upside down, the winner on the Democratic side, pro-abortion Senator Barack Obama, nailed down enough delegates from the June 3 Montana and South Dakota primaries to claim his party’s presidential nomination.

Following Iowa, Obama (D-Il.) suffered an unexpected loss to pro-abortion rival Sen. Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire. But his superior organization and limitless financial resources beat back Clinton’s many furious attempts at a counteroffensive. A media darling, Obama was anointed early as a “transformative” candidate, giving him an invaluable edge over Clinton (D-NY).

If ever anyone ever earned the title of the comeback kid, it is pro-life Sen. John McCain. Finishing a distant third in Iowa, McCain (R-Az.) was written off by the media establishment.

However, on January 8 he roared back to win convincingly in the Granite State and backed that up 11 days later by carrying the pivotal state of South Carolina.

When McCain carried such delegate-heavy states as New York, California, and New Jersey on Super Tuesday, former Michigan Governor Mitt Romney, withdrew from the field.

Republicans will formally nominate McCain at their national convention September 1–4 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Obama will be nominated at the Democrats’ national convention which takes place August 25–28 in Denver, Colorado.
