Karl Rove to Speak at NRLC Convention
By Jacki Ragan

What are your family plans for this summer? I hope they include bringing your family and attending the 36th annual National Right to Life Convention being held in the suburbs of our nation’s capital on July 3, 4, and 5.

This is a tremendous opportunity to celebrate our independence and the Fourth of July in Washington, D.C., get the latest information on the right to life issues, learn from experts, and share time with old friends. Let me tell you about some of the great things the convention has in store for you this summer.

The convention will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, July 3, with the opening General Session. The invited speaker for this session has not yet confirmed. I can tell you that if the person is able to attend, you will not be disappointed.

Following this session, we have a brief lunch break where you can grab a bite to eat, visit the many exhibits that have pro-life materials and information on display, and meet with and strategize or socialize with pro-lifers from all parts of the USA.

Following lunch the workshops will begin and there will be four segments of workshops with six options to pick from during each segment. The speakers are top notch and you will not be disappointed in any of the workshops! Following the last segment of workshops, there will be a dinner break and then the evening General Session featuring Mr. Michael Clancy (see NRL News, April 2008, page one).

If you have not yet had the opportunity to meet with or visit with Mr. Clancy this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. Mr. Clancy is the photographer who took the famous photo of Baby Samuel.

In order to perform prenatal corrective surgery on Samuel, his mother’s uterus (with Samuel in it) was removed and an opening made. As the surgeon was operating, Samuel’s little arm thrust out. The doctor reached over and Samuel squeezed the doctor’s finger.

Mr. Clancy will share his riveting story with the convention attendees at 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, July 3.

Friday morning opens with the Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. sharp! Following the Prayer Breakfast, there will be a General Session to help us all prepare for the upcoming elections.

Our featured speaker at this session is none other than Mr. Karl Rove! We are very excited to have Mr. Rove with us this year. Following Mr. Rove’s General Session, we will have a brief lunch break and then proceed again with four segments of workshops just like on Thursday. We will end on Friday at 5:30 in order to give folks time to head downtown and see the fireworks and celebrate America!

Saturday morning opens with a General Session on “Medical Ethics.” You will hear the latest information on health care and what to watch out for in the coming months. This session will be followed by four segments of workshops, the Oratory Contest (which features talented high school orators), the last chance to visit the exhibits, and the final day to meet with and talk to other chapter people to offer and get advice!

Church services follow, including a Catholic Mass and a Protestant service. The closing Banquet begins at 8 p.m. and we are very honored to have Father Richard John Neuhaus with us! Fr. Neuhaus is editor-in-chief of First Things magazine.

These are only just some of the highlights of the convention. There will be much more—the very latest information on topics that are important to the right to life movement and pro-lifers across America.

It is not too late to make plans to attend the National Right to Life Convention and bring your family. On pages 14 and 15 you’ll find complete information about how to register. For more information call (202) 378-8842.

You plan to be there, and we will promise you to make the three days absolutely worth your while. See you in Washington, D.C., this July!
