Resources
Galore At Your Fingertips It will come as no surprise that in an organization such as NRLC which has a virtually limitless workload but very limited resources that staff tends to wear many hats. But even by NRLC’s exhausting standards, Jacki Ragan’s haberdashery is without peer. In her “spare time,” she manages NRLC’s national convention and its Proudly Pro-Life Awards Dinner. That’s in addition to her regular job of heading State Organizational Development—the lifeline NRLC extends to its 50 state affiliates. We talked in mid-December as Jacki’s department continue to gear up for January 22-related activities. She pointed out that the last thing we would want to do is commemorate Roe v. Wade. We’d all much rather that abortion on demand be an ugly memory, rather than an ongoing lethal reality. But so long as a sizable portion of our great nation sleeps, this evil will survive. Our task is to awaken America to the monstrosity that is legal abortion. And while we wish Roe had long since been swept into the dustpan of history, in the meanwhile we use the extra attention abortion receives in January to educate the wider public. Jacki cited a number of examples. One of the many resources being made available to local and state NRLC affiliates is a four-color two-sided Church bulletin insert. On the front is a headshot of an unborn baby with the headline, “Cute Baby: Too bad you’ll never get to meet her.” Underneath that is a graphic of heart and the words, “Abortion Stops a Beating Heart.” On the reverse side are “Fast Facts” about fetal development and abortion statistics. You can see what it looks like by going to pages 12-13 of the December issue of National Right to Life News. Another example of resources that can help local and state groups is a National Petition to Urge U.S. Senators to Stop Blocking President Bush’s judicial nominees. Many very well qualified men and women are being blocked from consideration and confirmation by pro-abortion U.S. Senator, who want justices who will pledge in advance to vote in favor of abortion. It is not just pro-lifers but anyone who believes in fairness who will want to sign a petition alerting senators that this roadblock is jeopardizing the administration of justice. Indeed, there are so many unfilled vacancies that the federal courts have declared a “judicial emergency.” You can see what this petition looks like by going to pages 22-23. Jacki reminded me that there are many other resources available from NRLC. The fastest way find out what they are and to get them into your hands is to call 202-378-8842. Call today, won’t you? |
