NRLC Board Honors Geline Williams, Jay Duenwald, and Grassroots Volunteers

Resolution to Honor Geline Williams for Her Service as Chairman of the NRLC Board of Directors

WHEREAS, Geline Williams has served as chairman of the National Right to Life Committee Board of Directors for 25 years, using her dignity, sense of humor, and respect for others as she moved the Board through many significant and momentous decisions; and

WHEREAS, Geline Williams' personal charm and graciousness have helped make her an effective and forceful representative of the Board of Directors to the grassroots and to the public; and

WHEREAS, Geline Williams is a founding member of the pro-life movement, organizing the Virginia Society for Human Life in 1967 along with her husband Alex, joining the NRLC Board in 1977; and

WHEREAS, Geline Williams took her pro-life convictions into the public arena, serving as a member of the Richmond City Council from 1984–1994 and serving as mayor of Richmond from 1988–1990,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the NRLC Board of Directors, sitting in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 21, 2006, extends its deep appreciation to Geline Williams for her long-time service to the Board of Directors.

Resolution to Recognize Jay Duenwald for His Service as Vice-Chairman of the NRLC Board of Directors

WHEREAS, Jay Duenwald has served as vice-chair of the National Right to Life Committee Board of Directors for seven years, being a member of the NRLC Board of Directors for 15 years, and

WHEREAS, Jay Duenwald, along with his wife Agnes, has been a pro-life leader in South Dakota for more than 20 years, founding the state's major pro-life PAC, the South Dakota Pro Life Committee; and

WHEREAS, Jay Duenwald has taken his pro-life convictions into the public arena, serving as a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives from 1997–2002, serving as House Majority Whip from 1999–2002, then serving in the state Senate from 2003 to the present, and serving as Senate Majority Whip since 2005; and

WHEREAS, Jay Duenwald's strong, quiet confidence and unfailing courtesy and consideration for others has inspired respect for him and for the pro-life movement,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the NRLC Board of Directors, sitting in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 21, 2006, extends its deep appreciation to Jay Duenwald for his service to the Board.

Resolution to Honor Grassroots Volunteers

WHEREAS, the United States Supreme Court's tragic 1973 Roe v. Wade decision has resulted in the deaths of more than 47 million unborn children and has opened the door to further attacks on defenseless human life in the form of infanticide, assisted suicide, and euthanasia; and

WHEREAS, the successful efforts to return legal protection to vulnerable persons is more visible and effective than ever, thanks to grassroots pro-lifers who refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice and cruelty; and

WHEREAS, countless unborn babies and medically dependent people are alive because of the selfless work of millions of grassroots volunteers; and

WHEREAS, the strength of the pro-life movement always has been and remains the result of continuous, steadfast effort of unsung grassroots volunteers,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the National Right to Life Committee Board of Directors, sitting in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 21, 2006, recognizes with deep appreciation the invaluable work of these dedicated pro-life volunteers and extends to these grassroots champions its heart-felt gratitude for the talents and resources they have extended on behalf of innocent, vulnerable human life.
