Women Invited to Lobby in Washington

REAL Women's Voices
By Carol Tobias, PAC Political Director

In an unprecedented effort to make pro-life women's voices heard, several influential pro-life groups are working together to sponsor a women's lobbying day in the nation's capital.

On Wednesday, April 27, pro-life women from around the country are invited to come to Washington to lobby senators about pro-life issues. The focus will be President Bush's judicial nominees and the critical ban on human cloning.

The lobbying day is being called "REAL Women's Voices."

Groups who support abortion are often considered to be the "women's movement," and they want everyone to believe that they represent women. However, poll after poll shows that Americans, including women, are more pro-life than pro-abortion. These real women will come to Washington to lobby on behalf of women and unborn children.

As this edition of NRL News goes to press, co-sponsoring organizations include the National Right to Life Committee, the Susan B. Anthony List, Concerned Women for America, Silent No More Awareness, Eagle Forum, and Family Research Council Action.

The day will start with a training breakfast, where attendees will learn specifics about how to lobby and what to say. That session will be followed by a press conference, then time for the women lobbyists to lobby their senators. The day will conclude with a reception for the women lobbyists and invited pro-life members of Congress.

Women who are not able to make the trip to Washington are asked to join the event "in spirit," by committing to contact their senators by phone, fax, or e-mail on April 27.

Whether you can attend the session in Washington, or will join "in spirit," you are asked to register in advance. To register, or to get updated information, visit the NRLC web site, www.nrlc.org, and click on the "REAL Women's Voices" button. You may also call NRLC at 202-626-8800, ext. 138.
