Pro-Life T-Shirts Challenge Planned Parenthood's Message

By Liz Townsend

Outraged by Planned Parenthood's "I had an abortion" t-shirt, a California couple took action. They designed their own pro-life shirt, emblazoned with the words "My mom didn't have an abortion," and are now selling a line of life-affirming products.

"We were disgusted by the 'I had an abortion' t-shirts and became more so as we saw various attempts to defend them by supporters of abortion," Tracy Thompson and Loryn Taylor told NRL News. "It's like they want to throw abortion in our face, as if it is something every woman should accomplish in her life and be proud of."

The couple sat down and brainstormed phrases that would speak the truth about abortion. "We are planning to marry next year and start our own family," they said. "These feelings of our future inspired us to attempt a challenge to Planned Parenthood's shirts and change some minds."

After discarding several ideas, they came up with "My mom didn't have an abortion." "We looked at each other and knew that was perfect," Taylor said.

"It says, 'Here I am, I'm standing right here because my mom chose life.'"

They asked a friend to make the first shirts, which they gave to friends and family. Based on the positive response, they created a web site and joined with an Internet company that manufactures and sells personalized merchandise online.

The shirts can be purchased at www.mymomdidnt.com. In addition to long- and short-sleeved t-shirts, pro-lifers can also order sweatshirts, baby bibs and creepers, license plate holders, caps, and buttons with the same phrase.

Thompson and Taylor are also planning to expand the line with even more products, including ones with the messages, "My mommy didn't have an abortion" and "I didn't have an abortion."

The couple hopes that the products will help spread the pro-life message across the country. "We want to make a difference and have some fun while doing it," they said. "We feel there is a great message and truth sent by the message 'My mom didn't have an abortion.'"
