Parishes with Hispanic parishioners and Mass in Spanish will soon be receiving the Spanish edition of the Choose Life bimonthly newspaper.

Hispanic Americans are largely pro-life and come from cultures where abortion is morally and legally unacceptable. However, they may not have access to accurate information about the abortion issue in the U.S. For example, Democratic candidates for the presidency who have openly emphasized their pro-abortion position to English-speaking audiences make no mention of the abortion issue on their Spanish-language web sites.

While Hispanic women were only 12.8% of the childbearing population in 2000, their rate of abortion was 20.1% - - an increase of 5.1% from a decade before.

Raimundo Rojas, Hispanic outreach coordinator for National Right to Life, points out, "The loss to our communities is more than just...population. Abortion means the loss of Hispanic teachers, artists, political leaders, doctors, scientists, athletes..."
