Sacramento Catholic Bishop Praises Parish Priest for Barring Gov. Davis from Participating in Parish Function

Roman Catholic Bishop William K. Weigand of Sacramento recently praised Msgr. Edward J. Kavanagh, pastor of St. Rose Parish and director of St. Patrick's Home, for barring California Governor Gray Davis from distributing Christmas gifts at the home in December because of Davis's stand on abortion.

In publicly stating his praise, the bishop said, "Thank you, Msgr. Kavanagh for standing up for the unborn, for your dedication to truth and for your pastoral concern for souls, including the governor's."
