PETITION TO STOP PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION
Twice before, Congress has passed bills to ban the brutal practice of partial-birth abortion, in which a well-developed baby is mostly delivered alive before being killed. President Bill Clinton vetoed those bills, so they never became law - - but now the president is George W. Bush, who is eager to sign the ban. The U.S. House of Representatives will easily approve the ban, but Senator Tom Daschle and the current leadership of the U.S. Senate will try to block the bill. Please sign this petition to Senator Daschle, who is the Senate Majority Leader (Democratic leader), urging him to allow the bill to ban partial- birth abortions (H.R. 4965) to be approved and sent to President Bush for his signature.
THE NATIONAL PETITION TO STOP PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION
National Right to Life, the nation's largest pro-life organization, and its affiliate state right to life groups, are sponsoring a petition calling on Congress to put an end to the brutal partial-birth abortion procedure.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
1. Please collect signatures on the petition from your friends, family, and neighbors. Arrange to have petitions signed at churches, fairs, shopping centers, sporting events, and any meetings where there may be pro-life people.
2. Make as many copies of the petition as you think you will need by copying. To avoid delay in signing before and after meetings or church services, it is advisable to have an adequate number of petition copies. Use only one side of each sheet. Additional copies may also be ordered free of charge from NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE, 512 10th Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20004-1401.
3. ADVERTISE the petition by an announcement at meetings, from the pulpit, or in the church bulletin. A bulletin insert can also call attention to the petition.

PETITION TO STOP PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION
You are invited to sign a petition to urge the Democratic majority leadership of the U.S. Senate to release the bill to end the brutal practice of partial-birth abortion, and send it to President Bush to be signed into law.
Petitions will be located at ( ).
Join with the majority of Americans and speak out against partial-birth abortion. The partial-birth abortion procedure is used most often on healthy babies of healthy mothers - - in the fifth and sixth months of pregnancy and sometimes even later. All abortions stop the beating heart of a living unborn child. Sign and be counted for LIFE!
4. Choose a convenient method of gathering signatures. A long table or several card tables can be used, or a number of clipboards with petitions and pens on them can be available.
Have an ample supply of pens, not pencils, available for use. The petitions should also be circulated at church bible study or adult discussion groups.
It would be helpful if one or more dedicated pro-lifers were on hand to assist.
5. Give copies of the petition to anyone who can help gather signatures.
6. Please return the signed petition as soon as possible to the address on the reverse side.
Thank you for your efforts!

"After dilating the cervix, the physician will grab the fetus by its feet and pull the fetal body out of the uterus...the head will be held inside the uterus by the woman's cervix. While the fetus is stuck in this position, dangling partly out of the woman's body, just a few inches from completed birth, the physician uses an instrument such as a pair of scissors to tear or perforate the skull. The physician will then either crush the skull or will use a vacuum to remove the brain and other intracranial contents from the fetal skull, collapse the fetus' head, and pull the fetus from the uterus."
--Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas describing partial-birth abortion in his dissent in Stenberg v.Carhart, June 28, 2000
