Post-Abortion Victim Keynote Speaker at Inter-Faith Prayer Service in U.S. Senate Office Building

By Ernest L. Ohlhoff, Director of Outreach

Washington, D.C. (Jan. 22) - - Clergy and laity from several dozen different denominations participated in the Eighth Annual National Memorial for the Pre-Born sponsored by the National Clergy Council and the National Pro-Life Religious Council. The event was held in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on January 22, 2002.

The service conducted by Pastors Rob and Paul Schenck consisted of scripture readings, song and dance celebrating life, and reflections on the tragedy of abortion. The dance and music were provided by 40 members of the much acclaimed Christian Assembly of Columbus, Ohio.

The keynote speaker, Vera Faith Lord, the director of Alpha Omega Life, held the attendees spellbound as she related the story of her own abortion 19 years ago. Her story was so dramatic and well presented that virtually all of those present were moved to tears.

Alpha Omega Life is a newly formed pro-life outreach to the Greek Orthodox Christian Churches. During its first year, Vera has spoken at more than 35 parishes in the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Pittsburgh and at numerous other Orthodox Christian and pro-life functions in numerous states.

Pastor Rob Schenck, in addition to heading the National Clergy Council, is president of the National Pro-Life Religious Council, which is made up of pro-life leaders from more than 10 different denominations.
