Pro-Life Professionals to
Examine Abortion-Eugenics Connection
The
Association for Interdisciplinary Research in Values and Social Change, an
association of pro-life professionals, will examine the relationship between
abortion and eugenics at its annual meeting and paper session this year. The
meeting will be held the night before the beginning of the annual NRL Convention
and will take place at the Adams Mark Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, June
27. The general public is invited to the meeting, which begins at 8:00 p.m., and
there is no charge to attend. Refreshments will be served following the
presentations. Those presenting papers are: John Hunt, Ph.D., a professor of
history at St. Joseph College in Connecticut. His paper will discuss the
abortion and eugenics policies of Nazi Germany.
Mary Nicholas, M.D., a medical ethics professor at St. John's University in
Queens, New York, will discuss the influence of eugenics in prenatal care. Akua
Furlow, a social researcher, will discuss the relationship between eugenics and
birth control.
Marianne Linane, a pro-life nurse, who will describe the LifeLinks support group
which has been established in Wisconsin for women with at-risk pregnancies.
