Senate Approves McCain-Feingold Bill, 59-41

Shown below is the April 3, 2001, roll call by which the U.S. Senate approved the McCain-Feingold "campaign finance reform" bill (S. 27).

The National Right to Life Committee opposed the bill because it contained multiple provisions to restrict the right of NRLC, NRLC affiliates, and other organizations to communicate with the public about what members of Congress are doing on pro-life issues. The bill now goes to the House of Representatives, which may vote on it or similar legislation this summer.
