Action Request:
U.S. House of Representatives to Vote April 25 or 26 on the Unborn Victims of Violence Act
How You Can Help Enact
This Important Pro-Life Bill
Please write to your U.S. representative, and ask him or her to support the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (H.R. 503), which the House will consider on or about April 25. Urge the congressman to vote against the gutting Lofgren "one-victim" amendment that may be offered when the bill reaches the House floor. A congressman who votes for the Lofgren Amendment or any other "one- victim" amendment is really saying that when a criminal assaults a pregnant woman and kills her unborn child, there has been no loss of human life.
The Honorable _____________
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515
Please write to your two U.S. senators, and ask them to co- sponsor the Senate version of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (S. 480), introduced by Senator Mike DeWine (R-Ohio). Tell your senators that federal law should recognize that when a criminal injures a pregnant woman and her unborn child, he has claimed two victims, not just one. Urge him to oppose any attempt to gut the bill by substituting a "one-victim" amendment.
Senator ____________
U.S. Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510
Send a letter of 250-300 words to the letters column of your local newspaper(s), explaining the bill and encouraging citizens to contact their senators to urge support for the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.
As the April 25 date for House floor action nears, utilize telephone trees, e-mail alert lists, call-in radio shows, and other methods to encourage phone calls to the local offices of U.S. House members, and to their Washington offices at 202-225- 3121, in support of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.
