BUSH VERSUS GORE:
PRO-LIFE VERSUS PRO-ABORTION

During the past year many presidential hopefuls have vied for their respective party's endorsement to be on the ballot in November. Now the choice is clear: pro-life versus pro-abortion.

On the Democratic side, pro-abortion Vice President Al Gore has issued many statements clearly espousing his complete support for the Roe v. Wade decision and its continuance as the law of the land. Gore is also eager to expand the practice of abortion in the United States and export abortion around the world.

Gore has twice spoken at National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL) luncheons and has opposed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. In an address delivered on the 24th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Gore told NARAL, "Rest assured that a Supreme Court majority appointed in a Gore administration would support a woman's right to choose."

On the Republican side, pro-life Texas Governor George W. Bush believes that Roe v. Wade should be overturned and supports the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. He also believes that future Supreme Court justices should strictly interpret the Constitution and not use the bench to legislate on issues before the court.
