NRLC 2000
"Taking a Stand...Making A Difference!"
By Jacki Ragan
NRLC Convention Director
Great news: Joni Eareckson Tada will be the guest speaker at the closing banquet of NRLC 2000. Mrs. Tada, author of 21 books, is a well-known lecturer and host of the daily radio program Joni and Friends heard on some 500 stations worldwide.
Pro-lifers have particularly enjoyed her passionate, deeply personal book opposing euthanasia entitled When Is It Right to Die? As many readers of NRL News already know from her autobiography Joni, a diving accident in 1967 left Mrs. Tada a quadriplegic in a wheelchair, unable to use her hands. During two years of rehabilitation, she spent long months learning how to paint with a brush between her teeth.
Mrs. Tada fought deep depression and emerged to become a powerful advocate for disabled persons. She uses her inspirational radio program Joni and Friends to deal with a wide range of topics relating to disability awareness, from a biblical perspective. In five short minutes each day she provides a uniquely personal, biblically inspired insight into some of life's tougher questions.
It is by featuring such prominent, highly visible pro-lifers that NRLC's annual convention lives up to its reputation as the educational event of the year. Future issues of NRL News will profile some of the many wonderful speakers.
