Heaven's Gate in Slow Motion

Editor's note. The following is an excerpt from the February 3 edition of CNN TALKBACK LIVE, hosted by Bobbie Battista. Derek Humphry is the author of Final Exit and narrator of the Final Exit: The Video. Wesley Smith is an attorney and author of Forced Exit: The Slippery Slope from Assisted Suicide to Legalized Murder.

BATTISTA: Question from Mike.

MIKE: Yes. The Internet and also the cable is so accessible to younger viewers these days, I would have major concern about the ramifications this could have on younger viewers.

BATTISTA: Mr. Humphry, what does it tell children if they see it...

HUMPHRY: Well, younger viewers are interested in this. If you could see my Internet every morning, it's usually 40 students a day asking for information about euthanasia in general, assisted suicide for their papers, for their discussion groups. A great many young people are facing up to this issue intelligently and writing and debating, there's a lot of debating going on, and - - I mean I've got a constant stream of requests from students for information.

SMITH: So this is Heaven's Gate in slow motion is what you're saying.

HUMPHRY: Well, we shall see, won't we?
