Still Time to Help NRL Educational Trust Fund

By Marie Hagan

There is still time to take advantage of one of the most convenient and effective routes to bolstering pro-life educational efforts.

If they hurry, many federal, state, and private sector employees still have the opportunity to designate the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund (Agency #0447) as part of fall workplace campaigns. Many of these campaigns have closing dates that extend until mid-December.

For those unfamiliar with workplace giving campaigns, there are any number.

The best known is the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). CFC is for federal employees. But for state governmental employees, there are about 21 states that now have campaigns. Thankfully, a growing number of private sector campaigns are sprouting up as well.

Employee workplace giving is a simple way to enhance pro-life educational efforts. Last year, for example, the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund was able to share over $100,000 dollars with its state affiliates. Education funds from the generous contributions from federal employees through the CFC. The state and private sector campaigns generate a substantial portion as well.

As explained in previous NRL News stories, the time for designating gifts takes place for approximately two months each fall with varying "kick-off" and "closing" dates that run anywhere from the end of August through mid-December. So, if you missed donating to the NRL Educational Trust Fund--agency #0447 under the federation America's Charities -- there may still be time!Proceeds from workplace campaigns are used by NRLC's affiliates to educate their communities.

Nearly all of NRLC's state affiliates use workplace giving funds to purchase educational literature and videos, build research and lending libraries, and conduct educational seminars and public educational campaigns and hold fairs.

To join in helping defend the unborn, elderly, and disabled, contribute through your workplace campaign and/or tell someone you know about this wonderful opportunity. A portion of the money you designate is simply deducted from your paycheck each month.

So for a couple of dollars a week, you will be making a big difference and helping people find out that there are alternatives to ending an innocent life. Your contribution is also tax deductible.

If you do not find the NRL Educational Trust Fund (agency #0447) listed in your campaign brochure, you may "write in" the name and agency number. For further information, contact Marie G. Hagan, Workplace Campaigns Coordinator at 202-626-8800, ext. 112 or e- mail: mghagan2@compuserve.com.
