WASHINGTON – In an interview with the New Hampshire Union Leader published today, former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton indicated she was open to a congressional investigation to look into the harvesting and trafficking of body parts from unborn children killed by abortion saying, “…if there’s going to be any kind of congressional inquiry, it should look at everything and not just one part of it.” In the interview, she said she had seen “pictures” from videos released by The Center for Medical Progress, and called them “disturbing.”

“Hillary Clinton has long been an active and vocal supporter of unrestricted abortion for any reason,” said Carol Tobias, National Right to Life president. “Undercover videos showing top Planned Parenthood officials discussing the harvesting and trafficking of baby body parts have exposed to the public the grisly side of the abortion industry. We welcome Mrs. Clinton’s openness to an investigation into the gruesome practices of harvesting and trafficking baby body parts.”

Hillary Clinton has a long record of advocating for unrestricted abortion for any reason, including the original Clinton Health Care Plan, which had a provision that would have required that mandated services (including abortion) be available in every region of every state.

In a press release issued in April, when Clinton announced her presidential candidacy, Planned Parenthood Action Fund (the organization’s political arm) “hailed” her “announcement that she is running for the Democratic nomination for president, noting her strong record of support for women’s health and rights.”

The same release highlighted Clinton’s comments to Planned Parenthood’s awards gala in 2009, in which she said “…I strongly support Planned Parenthood, and organizations that are on the front lines around the world.”

“Let’s see if Planned Parenthood still ‘hails’ Hillary Clinton’s candidacy for the Democratic nomination after today,” Tobias said.

Founded in 1968, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, NRLC works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
