NRLC '99 Prepares Pro-lifers for the New Millennium
By NRLC Federal Legislative Office
WASHINGTON (July 2) For the first time, many acts of violence
against unborn children would be prohibited by federal law under a major new pro-life bill
introduced on July 1 by Congressman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) with the strong backing of NRLC.

Pro-abortion Vice President Al Gore has officially declared that he is seeking the Democratic nomination to succeed pro-abortion President Bill Clinton. Pro-life Utah Senator Orrin Hatch has said that he will throw his hat into the ring. Hatch's June 22 announcement means there are now 12 Republicans seeking the GOP's 2000 presidential nomination.
Morality cannot be legislated, but behavior can be regulated. Judicial decrees may not change the heart, but they can restrain the heartless.
-Dr. Martin Luther King
For pro-lifers "restraining the heartless" through the power of law means enacting statutes that save the lives of unborn children; protect those threatened by infanticide, euthanasia and denial of lifesaving treatment; and slowly but surely subvert the "culture of death" that is still oppressing our country. That the subversion of the "culture of death" is occurring "slowly" is of course very frustrating, but we are confident that it is occurring "surely" because the abortion culture is fatally flawed.
The fatal flaw of the abortion culture, the "culture of death," is that it must deny truth and reality. In contrast, a culture that respects and protects life is based on truth and reality. It is the pro-abortionists' misfortune that truth and reality are governed by eternal laws-and not by press releases and policy statements from Planned Parenthood.
