"There is Still Time...
But the Clock Is Ticking..."

By Jacki Ragan
Convention Director

I would like to personally take this opportunity to invite you to join with National Right to Life as we commemorate 25 years of work on behalf of unborn children. Pro-life leaders from across the nation and abroad, along with countless grassroots pro-lifers, will gather in Orlando, Florida, June 18, 19, and 20, 1998, for the annual National Right to Life Convention (NRLC '98).

House Will Again Debate Bills To Restrict Free Speech About Politicians

House Republican Whip Tom Delay (R-Tx.) Leads opposition to restriction  Rep. Scotty Baesler (D-Ky.) Pushes restrictions on free speech about politicians

WASHINGTON (May 7) - - Within the next few weeks, the House of Representatives will conduct a wide-open floor debate over what restrictions should be placed on your right to free speech about politicians - - the issue referred to in the press as "campaign finance reform" legislation.
The House could begin the debate as early as the week of May 18, or the floor fight might not begin until after Memorial Day. Either way, a vote on final passage of so-called campaign reform legislation, as amended by the House, will not occur until sometime in June.

BECOME EFFECTIVE, INFORMED,
AND INSPIRED
COME TO THE NRLC CONVENTION
JUNE 18-20 IN ORLANDO, FL

On January 23, 1973, I "manned" a right-to-life information booth in the student union building of West Virginia University - - quite unaware that the horrendous Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions had just been announced. A student came up to me and announced, "You people can go home now. It's all over for you. The Supreme Court just made abortion legal." I didn't "go home" on January 23, 1973, nor did thousands of other pro-lifers.

RECHARGE THE BATTERIES AT THE NRLC '98 CONVENTION

No, we have never given up, and we never will until the children are safe. But we have learned that to stay effective as pro- lifers we have to work at staying informed and seek inspiration from other pro-lifers. Nothing cheers you up more than experiencing the fellowship of other committed pro-lifers. And nobody informs you more than a thoughtful right-to-life "pro" who lays out what works and what doesn't.
