Easy, Smeasy
Part Two of Three
By Dave Andrusko
Since I know that our
Movement is comprised of so many tender-hearted souls, I was
sure my post yesterday, "Out of the Mouths of Babes" ["Zachary's
Thoughts on Abortion"] would be a big, big hit. (www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Sept10/nv091410.html)
And it was, thank you.
But while it was encouraging to hear the friendly words, the
difference-maker for me was that you wrote to say that you had
posted the entry on your social networks. This trend has taken a
while to develop, but it is proving to be an unsurpassed way to
share the information.
Let me be clear: it's not as if our
readers--as faithful a lot as you could ever hope to have--have
ever been interested in hiding their light under a bushel. I
know people who've written me to say that they have
[electronically] copied individual editions, "pasted" them into
an email, and sent them whizzing off to a host of pro-life
family, friends, and colleagues.
This is great, great news,
and a real demonstration of your commitment. But if the
objective is to reach the widest possible audience, consider the
following and see if it doesn't hold the promise enormous
dividends. At the top of any post you'll find the
"address"-- in
this instance
http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Sept10/nv091410.html.
After you read "Zachary's Thoughts on Abortion," there were lots
of ways of making it available through your social networks.
If you go to Facebook, for example, there is a box at the top
labeled "What's on your mind?" If you just past that address in
there, it establishes a direct link to the article, plus
provides the opening sentence. Zip, zip and people are reading
it. In addition, once the reader is taken to the post, he/she
can actually watch the four-minute video of Zachery right there!
Why is that important?
All of us are inundated with
information. When people come to a post and see that that the
video of this delightful young boy is available right there,
they are likely to watch it. Even when someone is happy with
what I have composed, the impact moves to a whole other level
when they can listen to Zachary's amazingly perceptive
explanation of why abortion is wrong.
You get the point. Why don't you make it point today and for
the rest of the week to use your social networks to post as many
editions of Today's News Today and National Right to Life News
Today as possible. My guess is you will find that many people
will comment, and even more will post it on THEIR Facebook and
Twitter accounts. As my sister would say, easy, smeasy.
