The Road Less Traveled
Part One of Two

Part Two

explanation of pro-abortion President Obama's
position on abortion in any health care

Denyce
Graves |
The Washington Post ran a
charming piece today titled, "Third Wedding's a
Charm for Denyce Graves." If you are a
meat-and-potatoes sort of guy, like me, you
wouldn't have known that Ms. Graves is "one of
the most celebrated mezzo-sopranos of her day."
My trusty associate brought
the story to my attention, not to elevate my
cultural literacy, but to let me know there was
a "rest of the story." In this case it was how
Ms. Graves "became a single mother to a daughter
named Ella Thomas, ferrying the infant to
concert halls around the world." [http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/13/AR2009091302877.html]
I would encourage you to read
the story, so I will only briefly discuss
reporter Ellen McCarthy's fine report. At a
very, very low ebb in her life, Graves
discovered "she was with child." At age 39 she
"knew" she couldn't be pregnant for a variety of
medical reasons, "but she was pregnant," writes
McCarthy.
"The doctors urged her to
abort, she says, because she wouldn't be able to
carry to term," according to McCarthy. "Then,
Graves says, she was told the child had Down
syndrome.
"But in 2004 she delivered a
healthy baby girl – 'and she's perfect.'"
When I began the story I
vaguely recognized Graves's name. We learn from
McCarthy that "Almost eight years to the day
after she sang 'The Lord's Prayer' at the 9/11
memorial service, Graves entered Washington
National Cathedral again, this time in a long
white dress."
If you have five minutes, dial
it up.

. Her performance will send chills up and down
your spine and tears to your eyes.
