Resistance to ObamaCare Will Play Pivotal Role in November 2 Elections
Part Four of Four

By Dave Andrusko

Here are two sobering quotes.

"But if Democrats keep control of the House and Senate, they will be likely to expand healthcare reform, because their supporters want it." From a Reuters story Wednesday headlined, "Vote could change direction of healthcare reform."

"We have to pass the bill in order to see what's in it." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's never-to-be-forgotten explanation why ObamaCare should be enacted.

Pro-abortion House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.)

I could easily understand if some readers might wonder why I make such a point out of understanding the pivotal, fork-in-the-road importance of the vote that gave us ObamaCare. We understand it, so enough already.

But an awfully lot of people don't realize how the decision to stuff ObamaCare down our collective throats was instrumental in turning the public against Obama and pro-abortion Democrats (a turnaround which continues to pick up momentum) and which is a crucial component in explaining why Republicans are posed to make massive gains.

Indeed there are many pro-abortionists and others within the Democratic Party who believe Obama didn't go far enough, amazing as that is for anyone outside that circle to fathom. If they hold the fort (more or less) November 2, they'll be back for more.

We know that ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced. So that's why I keep my eyes and ears open for evidence that others catching on. Yesterday I highlighted the conclusions of a sterling piece that appeared in the National Journal.

Josh Kraushaar began with the obvious--that if Democrats do poorly next Tuesday, the "conventional wisdom" will trot out a lot of factors that miss the boat. "[T]he reality that Democrats hate to discuss – and even some Republicans have been hesitant to fully embrace – is that the party's signature health care law is what's turning a bad election year into a disaster of potential history-making proportions" [www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Oct10/nv102710part3.html].

My conclusion is a simple one. The beginning ingredients to make repealing and replacing ObamaCare possible are victories by candidates determined to get rid of it next week and the recognition that those victories were made possible by the public's massive resistance to ObamaCare.
