Venomous Last-Minute
Attacks on Pro-Life Candidates Must be Countered with Dedication
and the Truth
Part Three of Three
By Dave Andrusko
My favorite (and most
inspiring) response to last week's coverage of the upcoming
November 2 mid-term elections consisted of only five sentences.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Dave,
If I had to, I'd crawl
on my hands and knees to get out to vote. It's that critical.
And I'm very sure every other pro-lifer feels exactly the same
way.
In the meantime, I'm
praying (and offering some good old-fashioned fasting, too).
Bless you for being
there.
Sandy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's the kind of
passionate commitment that explains why historically candidates
who are pro-life fare so much better among voters for abortion
is the decisive issue than do pro-abortionists. And it is also
the kind of commitment that candidates who are pro-life will
need from their supporters as the attacks on them turn more
vicious and more devious.
About the former I will
mention only one and not go into at any great detail. Anyone who
has ever watched MSNBC's Rachel Maddow knows that the facts are
never allowed to get in the way. Pro-abort to the hilt, her
hostility knows no bounds.
Newsbusters has her entire
exchange with NBC 's Matt Lauer at
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/geoffrey-dickens/2010/10/25/msnbcs-rachel-maddow-links-pro-life-candidates-abortion-doctors-mu#ixzz13OP5Plxm.
The first paragraph of the
story about the interview with Lauer says it all:
"Left-wing
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, on Monday's Today show, disgustingly
tried to link pro-life candidates running in this year's midterm
elections to the murder of abortion Dr. George Tiller." Plugging
her upcoming documentary on Tiller, "[she] warned viewers: 'I
think it's important that it's airing right now because there
are, there are five Senate candidates running right now who have
a position on abortion that has never really been seen in
mainstream politics before.'"
Off the latter I could
pick any of countless examples. The New York Times (of all
publications) ran a piece Friday under the headline "Democrats
Back Third Parties to Siphon Votes"--efforts, according to
reporter Jim Rutenberg, "taking place across the country with
varying degrees of stealth."
Rutenberg starts with examples from California and Pennsylvania
before getting to Nevada.
"In Nevada, conservative
radio listeners have heard an advertisement promoting the Senate
campaign of a 'Tea Party of Nevada' candidate, Scott Ashjian,"
he explains. "The ads criticize Sharron Angle [who is pro-life],
the Republican nominee and favored candidate of the actual Tea
Party movement in the race against Senator Harry Reid [who is
pro-abortion], the Democratic majority leader."
Where do the ads come
from? "The ad was sponsored by a group backed by unions and
casino and mining companies supporting Mr. Reid."
So, enough said. I hope
you've helped those who might need assistance to vote early
(where states allow), which you can find at

Likewise, in competitive
races NRLC is providing you with the kind of information you
need to know where the candidates stand (http://stoptheabortionagenda.com/downloads/compare-the-candidates).
