Forced Abortion Attempt
Leads to More Criminal Charges
Part Three of Four
A Cincinnati man accused of
pulling a gun on his pregnant girlfriend and forcing her to
drive to an abortion clinic has pleaded not guilty to a charge
of attempted murder, according to the Associated Press. Dominic
L. Holt-Reid is also charged with improper handling of a firearm
in a motor vehicle, and having a weapon under disability,
according to Cincinnati's NBC4. Holt-Reid entered his not guilty
plea in Franklin County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday. He was
ordered held on $350,000 bond.
The 27-year-old Holt-Reid
allegedly threatened his girlfriend Yolanda Burgess after they
dropped their older child off at school October 6. Burgess
angered Holt-Reid after she refused to keep an abortion
appointment she had made for that morning at Founders Women's
Health Center, NBC4 reported.
"According to the report,
Holt-Reid removed a loaded .45 caliber Taurus handgun from the
glove compartment of the car and pointed it at the victim,
threatening her and forcing her to drive to the clinic," NBC4
reported. Burgess passed a note to a clinic employee, who called
police. They took Holt-Reid into custody and he was held on a
$500,000 bond when he was indicted October 7 on an initial two
charges of kidnapping and carrying a concealed weapon.
According to news reports,
Burgess and her unborn baby were unharmed in the incident. For
