The Pro-Life Week in Review
Part One of FourBy Dave
Andrusko
Good evening, and thanks once again
for reading Today's News & Views. Part Two
explains a remarkable medical technique that researches hope to use to
communicate with patients with "locked-in" syndrome.
Part Three directs you a one-stop center to
know where the candidates stand on life.
Part Four reminds us
that what used to be a one-day election is now a one-month election. Over at
National Right to Life News Today (www.nationalrighttolifenews.org),
we talk about the con job on the "Medicare Advantage" plans that the Obama
Administration is trying on us. We also talk about the "World Stem Cell
Summit, the not-so-hidden practice of euthanasia in Belgium, and a summary
of the latest election numbers. Please send your comments on Today's News &
Views and National Right to Life News Today to

A
kind reader, as part of her response to the question of what format she
likes TN&V in best, said she'll read it regardless because she just loves
what she's presented. Another respondent echoed that sentiment and added, "I
have especially enjoyed all your articles this week." Thank you to both, and
yes, these four days have been particularly interesting time in which to
write.
We've covered the upcoming mid-term
elections from stem to stern (or maybe port to starboard would be more apt).
We did so not just to update the grassroots but to remind them there is lots
to do in a very limited amount of time. (The election is November 2.) Be
sure to check out
http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Oct10/nv100410part4.html and
http://stoptheabortionagenda.com/downloads/compare-the-candidates.
Some of the kindest, most generous
responses were to our stories about children with Down syndrome. If you've
been busy, please take time to read

http://www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/MsgrPope.html;
http://www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/Awareness.html; and especially
http://www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/Holes.html.
For my money, the most interesting
story all week was written by Burke J. Balch, J.D., director of NRLC's
Powell Center for Medical Ethics. His "Are Obamacare 'Death Panels' Truly a
Myth?" is a real eye-opener. (http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Oct10/nv100110part2.html.)
And if you needed a picker upper for
the week there was, "Pro-Life Governor Christie Defunds Planned Parenthood
in New Jersey" (www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/NJ1005010.html).
To quote from the story, "New pro-life Governor Chris Christie (R), elected
in a stunning upset in the fall of 2009, was able to keep funds for Planned
Parenthood and similar organizations out of the state's latest budget by
holding fast to his convictions." Catch that? "By holding fast to his
convictions."
There is an awful lot to read today,
both at TN&V and at "National Right to Life News Today" (www.nationalrighttolifenews.org),
so I will end here. Please forward as many of these posts as you can using
your social networks.
Remember: the last mile of any
operation is no longer than the first, but because there is a finish line at
the end it is the one that pays the greatest dividends.
