A Strategic Misfire by

Part Two
tells the inspirational story of Prof. Mary
Ann Glendon, recipient of this year's
"Proudly Pro-Life Award." Please send any

By the time most of you
read this edition of TN&V, my wife and I
will be on a train headed for New York City
and the annual "Proudly Pro-Life Awards
Dinner." The NRL Educational Trust Fund is
honoring Professor Mary Ann Glendon, and we
are very excited to be able to hear her
remarks as she accepts the award. (For the
background, see Part Two.)

Bob
McDonnell |
Just a couple of words
today in Part One. We've written several
times about the Washington Post's crusade to
elect pro-abortion Democrat Creigh Deeds
governor over pro-life Republican Bob
McDonnell. The Post never misses a chance to
hammer away at McDonnell, who, in fact, is a
superb candidate and fits the profile of the
kind of man who will be a successful
governor of the Commonwealth.
McDonnell's lead over
Deeds has ebbed and flowed. The last week it
has flowed. What we must remember, however,
is that a few years back McDonnell defeated
Deeds by a few hundred votes when they
competed for state Attorney General. It
could be that close again come November.
Deeds latest ad is as
amusing as it is misguided. It shows footage
of McDonnell speaking to the annual NRLC
convention last year. He said,
"These elections matter
because elections determine who's got the
power, and who's going to make the
decisions. Whether or not they are pro-life
or not will make an eternal difference in
the statutes and in the legislatures all
over this country ...Those policy makers
with the votes determine whether or not
you're going to have a pro-life state where
protections are given to the unborn
consistent with federal court decisions, or
whether you are going to have a different
kind of policy."

R.
Creigh Deeds |
This, Deeds obviously
believes, will hurt McDonnell. Really? In
the video taken at our convention, McDonnell
comes across as calm, relaxed, reflective.
He says nothing more than what an educated
voter should know.
If you want a state where
the chief executive will work to make sure
whatever protections the courts allow will
be extended to the unborn, you want
McDonnell. If you want abortion on demand,
you want Deeds.
I'll take that match up
every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
