By Marie G. HaganThe first of September
kicked off the 2007 Combined Federal
Campaign (CFC), the federal employee giving
program which allows government workers to
donate funds to charities of their choice.
The CFC offers a convenient, painless way
for pro-lifers to help the NRL Educational
Trust Fund to spread a life-affirming
educational message.
The National Right to Life Educational
Trust Fund is listed under the federation
called Human Service Charities of America (HSCA),
along with its new agency code, #10542, and
a 25-word description. If you or someone you
know is a federal employee, help further the
efforts of the National Right to Life
Educational Trust Fund by pledging to
agency #10542 listed under the federation
HSCA in the CFC brochure this fall.
State government employees will find NRL
Educational Trust Fund listed under HSCA’s
parent federation called Neighbor to Nation
(NTN).
The CFC takes place primarily on a few
hundred military bases and post offices
around the country.
The CFC goes on for approximately two
months, at which point all pledge cards will
be collected by the respective CFC
chairpersons.
To those federal employees who have
already selected the National Right to Life
Educational Trust Fund (agency code #10542)
in your campaign brochures, your donation is
more than appreciated. Because of your
generosity and compassion, the NRL
Educational Trust Fund can share CFC
proceeds with the education funds of NRL’s
state affiliate groups, which receive a
portion. They have no shortage of creative
ideas about how to educate our communities
on right-to-life issues.
Last year, for example, the Pennsylvania
Pro Life Federation “engaged in numerous
educational outreach activities,” reported
Executive Director Michael Ciccocioppo.
These included providing an educational
booth at the Creation Music Festival, which
attracted more than 70,000 people.
The federation also conducted an annual
essay and oratory contest for students;
brought numerous educational displays and
models, DVDs, and fact sheets to other
fairs; and educated the public on
post-abortion syndrome and myths regarding
embryonic stem cell research.
Dauneen Dolce, New Mexico Right to Life’s
executive director, conveyed to NRL News how
its educational outreach included attending
the nation’s third largest state fair, in
the process reaching thousands. They also
had an educational media campaign and
participated in numerous speaking
engagements.
North Carolina Right to Life President
Barbara Holt volunteered that last year her
state had a major television media campaign;
held fair booths, speaking engagements at
schools, and other group events; and put up
educational billboards. All of these
educational efforts are greatly enhanced by
workplace campaign contributions such as the
CFC.
The National Right to Life Educational
Trust Fund also participates in a number of
state employee and private-sector campaigns
that also help generate educational funds
for pro-life endeavors. The state campaigns
include California, Colorado, Maine,
Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York,
North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont,
Washington, and Wisconsin.
In addition, private-sector companies
offering a workplace campaign or your local
United Way will both allow you to “write-in”
the National Right to Life Educational Trust
Fund.
