The Obama Team Continues to Take Shape

When you prevail, it's music to your ears. When you lose, it's like the sound of fingernails scrapping on a chalkboard. It's the truism, "To the victor go the spoils."

In this context it is the dreadful succession of pro-abortionists appointed by pro-abortion President-elect Barack Obama to positions within the White House, the cabinet, and federal agencies. (More specifically about that below.)

There is a deeply misleading parlor game currently being played in Washington, DC. It's along the lines of "aren't we amazed by how moderate Obama's selections are?"

We shall see how that plays out in other fields. When it comes to our single-issue area of concern, Obama is just what he promised he'd be–and it sure isn't moderate!

He's already made it unmistakably clear that soon after taking office, all the progress that's been made using non-embryonic stem cells sources will be ignored.

Under President George W. Bush no federal money went to research that required the killing of human embryos. Contrary to the widespread myth, states and private enterprise were free to spend their money to fruitlessly chase embryonic stem cell research (ESC).

But at the same time pro-embryonic stem cell forces were bemoaning their fate, one breakthrough after another ensued using sources that carried no ethical baggage. We wrote about one on Monday, where a joint medical team grew a new section of a damaged windpipe using the patient's own bone marrow cells. None of this matters to those ideologically committed to ESCs.

All of this will be spun, of course, as a non-ideological commitment to "save lives" and will be research(as Obama said during the campaign) that is "conducted ethically and with rigorous oversight." Yeah, right.

And notice who two of the chief spinners will be. Both are alumni of the radically pro-abortion Emily's List which strives to elect pro-abortion female Democrats.

Ellen Moran will be communications director. A thumbnail sketch describes her as "a longtime Democratic operative who since 2005 has been executive director of the pro-choice fundraising group Emily's List." This means that the key operative of the major pro-abortion PAC will be dispensing the Obama linline.

As the pro-abortion blog RH Reality Check noted, "Though Moran, as communications director, does not have policy impact she certainly has the opportunity to impact the ways in which the White House discusses and frames policy issues to the American public." That's putting it mildly.

Then there is Melody C. Barnes, tabbed to be head of the White House Domestic Policy Council, a job (as the Washington Post described it) "that makes her the president's top adviser on a wide range of issues."

Consider this lineage.

In addition to being a member of the Emily List board, "From December 1995 until March 2003, Ms. Barnes served as chief counsel to Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) on the Senate Judiciary Committee. As Kennedy's chief counsel, she shaped civil rights, women's health and reproductive rights, commercial, and religious liberties laws, as well as executive branch and judicial appointments."

As executive vice president of the Center for American Progress (CAP) , Barnes helped launch its "Initiative on Faith and Public Policy," otherwise known as the ceaseless campaign to dupe people of faith into believing that it's perfectly acceptable to vote for pro-abortionists. John Podesta, CAP's president and chief executive officer, served as chief of staff during the Clinton years. He is currently in charge of managing Obama's transition team.

On a more encouraging note, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I believe you will take great encouragement from Thursday's TN&V.
