"American Idol" to Air Alternatives to Abortion Ad

It's always much more fun to bring you good news than it is to ruminate on what pro-abortion President Barack Obama is up to today. (That was yesterday.)

American Idol, Fox's incredibly successful search-for-singing-talent blockbuster, has agreed to run a brilliantly conceived pro-adoption ad from CatholicVote.org on the show's season finale. CatholicVote.org (a subsidiary of the Fidelis Center) is the same group whose stunningly creative ad that talked about how pro-abortion President Barack Obama had been raised in difficult circumstances by a single mother was rejected by NBC-TV (and CNN).

"Life: Imagine the Potential" 2 has no dialogue, like its predecessor. Set against an great sound track, the narrative begins with the question, "What do….," followed by the photographs of a gallery of famous people, all in 30 seconds.

Everyone from Jamie Foxx and Jack Nicholson and John Lennon at one end to Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela and Jesse Jackson at the other--with, Nancy Reagan, Apple's Steve Jobs, Wendy's Dave Thomas, and Willie Nelson (among others) somewhere in the middle. What they all had in common is that each was adopted.

Based on AI's track record, at least 30 million people will watch the finale. What incredible exposure for a non-threatening but very powerful alternatives-to-abortion message.

"Imagine Spot 1" was to air during the Superbowl. NBC initially agreed, then backed out. As you may remember, The visual backdrop of the ad is of an unborn child in his mother's womb. With violins playing in the background, the following text appears on the screen:

"The child's future is a broken home.
"He will be abandoned by his father.
"His single mother will struggle to raise him.
"Despite the hardships he will endure,
"This child will become
"The first African American President."
The tag line is, "Life: Imagine the Potential."
