The Association for Interdisciplinary Research in Values and Social Change:
An Under-Appreciated Resource at NRLC 2009

Part Two of Two

By Dave Andrusko

Even as I write this a lot of people are making important decisions about attending National Right to Life’s more-important-than-ever national convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. There are already 79 great reasons to be there-–72 workshops, five general sessions, a prayer breakfast, and a closing banquet. (And if you haven’t already registered, the room block release is this Friday. By all means go to http://stoptheabortionagenda.com/convention/?page_id=38 for details.)

But there is another consideration that may not get the attention it deserves. On June 17-–the night before the three-day convention begins-–those lucky enough to be able to make it can come to the annual meeting of The Association for Interdisciplinary Research in Values and Social Change. Beginning at 8:00 some of the finest pro-life researchers and educators will deliver a series of papers on very important subjects.

For those are not familiar with the group, The Association for Interdisciplinary Research in Values and Social Change is a professional organization which offers a forum to exchange ideas of scientific and social science disciplines. The Association is a network of pro-life professionals who encourage research and academic publication and the development of textbooks and curricula for high schools and colleges.

If you can come to the Blake Hotel on Wednesday, June 17, you will be given the opportunity to hear the following:

Priscilla Coleman, Ph.D., Associate Professor Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. She will discuss Abortion and Mental Health: An Overview of the Literature.

Michael New, Ph.D., Assistant Professor University of Alabama. He will talk about Chasing the Data: Debunking the Infamous 2008 Abortion Study Released by Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good

In addition, there is Rosemary Crock, Ph.D., Highland Community College, Perry Campus, Topeka, Kansas. She will talk about Abortion Decision-making Attitudes of Adolescents Attending Roman Catholic Schools.

M.C. for the evening is the Association’s President, Wanda Franz, Ph.D. The Program is free and refreshments will be served at 10:00 pm.

If you would like a preview of the kind of excellent scholarship you can anticipate, go online to www.abortionresearch.us where you find the latest research bulletin--Spring 2009--and going back to Fall 2004.
