The Pro-Life Week in Review

By Dave Andrusko

As we end the week, I’m reminded that not everyone has a chance to read all the stories we post at “Today’s News & Views” and “National Right to Life News Today.” So let me feature some of the highlights and provide links that will take you directly to the stories.

Utah State Rep. Carl Wimmer

Few stories can surpass the importance of the drive to eliminate all forms of federal funding for Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of abortion (over 300,000 annually). Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and President Obama are engaged in negotiations about which federal programs should be reduced or eliminated for the remainder of the current federal fiscal year.

PPFA is using all of its financial muscle to save its federal funding. Please go to www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/March11/nv031011.html where you will be shown how you can share your feelings with your two U.S. senators and your representative in the House of Representatives.

We continue to run story after story about, and excerpt after excerpt from a grand jury report about the horrific conditions in abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s clinics. Gosnell, charged with eight counts of murder, is not the only abortionist whom the state Health Department found endangering patients, as we talked about yesterday (http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/March11/nv031011part4.html and today.
There’s plenty of good news from the state legislatures ( http://www.nationalrighttolifenews.org/news/2011/03/state-legislative-action-an-update/ ; and http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/March11/nv031011part2.html). There is real movement on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, abortion clinic regulation, and sonograms for abortion-vulnerable women.

That forward movement is for many reasons, including that the public supports such measures and believes they will reduce the number of abortions (http://www.nationalrighttolifenews.org/news/2011/03/rrfindssupport/#more-369).

A principal target of NARAL and Planned Parenthood are women-helping centers. Passage of harassment legislation seemed to as good as done in Washington State. Not so! (http://www.nationalrighttolifenews.org/news/2011/03/victory-snatched-from-the-jaws-of-defeat/#more-361).

There is much, much more but let me end with two items. First, Jonathan Imbody does a brilliant job exposing the nonsensical idea that pro-abortion President Obama is seeking “common ground” on abortion (http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/March11/nv030911part3.html). If you have a few minutes, I believe you will enjoy “The Impending Collapse” (http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/March11/nv031011part3.html).
Have a great weekend!
