Eight Days to Go Before NRLC 2010
Part Three of Three

By Dave Andrusko

National Right to Life staff, interns, and volunteers are in the homestretch, putting together the massive amount of materials, displays, and whatnot required to put on a three-day educational extravaganza. If you have not signed up to be part of the gang in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, June 24-25-26, it's not too late.

The online address is http://stoptheabortionagenda.com/convention and there you will find online registration and registration information for the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport. We've been there before, and it is a lovely hotel--and very conveniently located.

Jaime Thietten

There are some very neat new twists on the online convention site. You'll get a preview from people like Olivia Gans, who heads American Victims of Abortion, about a series of special workshops. National Right to Life Academy Program Director Megan McCrum explains how pro-life college students from across the country start their summer training with NRLC at the National Right to Life Convention. And NRLC President Dr. Wanda Franz offers you a warm welcome.

All this in addition to representative sound bites from past conventions. How good it is to hear the voice of President Ronald Reagan. I was in attendance when he told the convention, "No one in America is more sensitive to this enormous tragedy and no one in America has done more to put a stop to it than those attending this National Right to Life Convention."

And then there are excerpts from the speeches of Henry Hyde and Mother Teresa and President George W. Bush, and the Rev. Richard John Neuhaus.

Very encouraging!

In addition the convention is now on Twitter. That means you will be updated as more information about new speakers is added.

Msgr. Jim Lisante

Those hundreds of thousands of you who read National Right to Life News already know that we have a great list of speakers. To name just a few, Steven Mosher, Mark & LaRee Pickup, and Msgr. Jim Lisante.

There is a general session titled, "The Pain of the Unborn." The Thursday night general session will honor the 25th anniversary of Teens for Life. Its founder, Jack St. Martin, will be in attendance as will Dr. Angela Franks, former President of Teens for Life. To give you some idea what a great training grounds this has been, Dr. Franks will be the main speaker at that session discussing Planned Parenthood and its eugenic legacy.

American Idol contestant Maddy Curtis will be speaking to the Teens about her pro-life convictions. She will share what a privilege it's been to be one of twelve children and to have four brothers with Down syndrome.

Maddy Curtis and her brother Jonny.

When you come to the Prayer breakfast on Friday and the closing Banquet Saturday night, you'll hear Jaime Thietten. As readers of NRL News and TN&V know Jaime sings an incredibly beautiful pro-life song entitled "My Chance." (http://www.jtmusic.net/home).

We had a chance to interview Jaime (http://www.nrlc.org/news/2009/NRL05/ProLifeSong.html), and I would strongly encourage you listen to the song and read the story about Jaime's pro-life ministry. A follow-up story appears in the June issue of National Right to Life News.

There are 73 great reasons to come to NRLC 2010: 66 workshops, five general sessions, a prayer breakfast, and a closing banquet. Go to http://stoptheabortionagenda.com/convention and get started!
