Autos for Life Rolls into
Summer!
By David N. O'Steen, Jr.
Now that the cold weather has
finally lost its grip on most of the nation, and the kids are
finishing the school year, it's time to start thinking about
traveling, vacations, and relaxing.
But this time of the year can
also be a good opportunity to start thinking about donating that
car, truck, or van that you no longer need that is taking up space
in your driveway or garage. Many of you have generously donated a
great variety of vehicles to "Autos for Life" in the past, and there
have also been some great stories that go along with them.
Recently, a gentleman in
Washington State donated a 1956 Ford Customline to National Right to
Life through our "Autos for Life" program. The car had been bought
new by his father and kept in the same family for 56 years!
As donations collector's cars are
a little out of the ordinary, so we were truly excited! Also, after
being in the same family for so long, I'm sure a lot of thought went
into which organization should receive it!
The car had been restored some
years back. It was purchased from our online auction by a gentleman
in Idaho who runs a collector car dealership and had been looking
for just such a car!
This was a great gift, the
proceeds of which will help us to continue our life-saving work! Let
me suggest that now it's your turn.
All that we need from you is a
description (miles, vehicle identification number--VIN#--condition,
features, the good, the bad, etc.) along with several pictures, the
more, the better. We'll take care of the rest!
Digital photos are preferred, but
other formats work as well. You don't have to bring the vehicle
anywhere, or do anything with it, and there is no additional
paperwork to complete. The buyer picks the vehicle up directly from
you at your convenience, and you receive a tax deduction for the
full sale amount!
If you or someone you know has a
vehicle to donate, please contact David O'Steen Jr. at (202)
626-8823 or dojr@nrlc.org. If you
prefer you can send all the vehicle information by regular mail to:
"Autos for Life"
c/o National Right to Life
512 10th St. N.W.
Washington, DC 20004
Again, vehicles can be of any
age, and located anywhere in the country. Countless unborn babies
are depending on us, and with your prayers and continued support we
won't let them down! |
