Cinderella, Men, and Abortion
-- Part Three of Three
As you noticed, I'm sure, Part Two is a
reprint of a thoughtful piece that appears in the online publication of the
Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation. In that issue of "LifeLines," the reader
is linked to one of the most poignant videos I've ever seen--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLYxtuC0oRk
"Cinderella" features Christian musician Steven Curtis Chapman
and is a powerful reminder to all us way-too-busy dads not to take our eyes
off what really matters: our kids.
Some of you may know that last month
Chapman lost his 5-year-old daughter, Maria, in the kind of tragic accident
the pain of which only another parent can begin to understand. Maria was one
of the inspirations behind Steven's song, "Cinderella." The link allows you
not only to hear this beautiful song but also to learn the story behind the
song from Steven himself.
We read on "Lifelines" the following:
"In this month when we honor fathers, Steven's song, and his reflections on
it, are particularly poignant--especially when so many fathers are grieving
the loss of their children from abortion."
It is only in the past couple of years
that still another silenced voice in the abortion debate–that of the fathers
of these babies–has begun to be heard. I can only tell you having sat down
with some of these guys, that their pain is searing hot, their regret almost
palpable, and their devastation close to complete.
When you come to NRL 2008 in Crystal
City, Virginia July 3-5, be sure to visit some of the workshops on Men and
Abortion. For information about registering, please go to
