In the Keystone State,
local chapters of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation are
holding a myriad of events in January to mark the tragic
anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
In Erie, People for Life
staged their own March for Life January 8th at Perry Square in
downtown Erie. That was followed January 15th by a prayer
breakfast featuring Dr. Joel Brind, co-founder of the Breast
Cancer Prevention Institute and an expert on the abortion-breast
cancer link.
On January 22nd, the
Beaver County chapter of Pennsylvanians for Human Life will hold
its annual Respect Life memorial service. The event culminates
in a speech by veteran pro-life activist Vera Faith Lord.
Pro-life residents of
Mifflin and Juniata Counties will gather in Lewistown January
23rd for a march to the Old Court House in Lewistown. The
pro-life rally there will include patriotic songs, prayer and
remarks from a number of dignitaries, including Susan Rogacs,
president of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation. The event is
sponsored by Citizens Concerned with Human Life (CCHL)
Mifflin-Juniata, Inc., a chapter of the Federation.
In Scranton, a city that
has been called the pro-life capital of the nation, a prayer
breakfast will be held January 29th at St. Mary's Center. The
breakfast will feature African-American preacher and pro-life
activist Rev. Clenard Childress.
In Pennsylvania, we're
finding that enthusiasm for the annual March for Life in
Washington D.C. is at an all-time high. Churches that haven't
sponsored buses to the march for years are busy making bus
arrangements this year. We believe that the federal subsidies
for abortion promised in ObamaCare are motivating people to
become more involved in the pro-life movement. With our new
pro-life Governor Tom Corbett and solid pro-life majorities in
our state House and Senate, we are also poised to make
tremendous strides in advancing pro-life legislation this year.
2011 will be the year of the pro-life activist in Pennsylvania.
