First Louisiana Life March to Draw Crowd at Capitol and in Downtown Baton Rouge,
Senator Vitter and Others to Address Participants on Capitol Steps

Part Two of Two

Editor's note. In a story that ran yesterday about North Carolina RTL's Rally and March, the church affiliation of Reverend Brent Tysinger, who delivered the benediction, was incorrect. Rev. Tysinger pastors Mount Pleasant Community Church in Trinity.

On Saturday January 22, pro-life citizens will gather for the first ever Louisiana Life March to commemorate the 38th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion in all 50 states.

The event is sponsored by Louisiana Right to Life, Louisiana Family Forum, Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops' Life and Justice Committee, the Louisiana Baptist Convention, the Knights of Columbus, and the Concerned Women for America.

Participants will gather at the Old State Capitol at 10 am and march to the State Capitol. At the State Capitol, faith, civic, and community leaders will lead prayer and speak to the participants. Speakers will include Senator David Vittter, Dr. Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention, Bishop Robert W. Muench of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, Fr. Shenan Boquet, and more.

After the speakers and prayer concludes around noon, a Life Ministry Mobilization area near the steps of the Capitol will allow participants to learn about pro-life ministries in the state.

Following the event, Governor Jindal will participate in a closed 'Life Summit and Reception' in the Governor's Mansion for key leaders to discuss ways to develop a stronger pro-life Louisiana.

Benjamin Clapper, Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following about the Louisiana Life March, "We are looking forward to uniting the pro-life people of Louisiana, across all denominational lines, to take a stand for life in our Capital. We believe this historic movement can help us move closer to an abortion-free Louisiana. We encourage all people to join us!"

All are welcome to attend, and there is no fee associated with the event. More information on the event can be found online at www.LALifeMarch.com or by calling 1-866-463-5433.
