2010 NRL Academy following their graduation. |
National Right to Life is
preparing for the fifth summer session of the National Right to
Life Academy, our unique educational program for pro-life
college students, that runs from June 22-August 5, 2011.
Interested students are strongly encouraged to apply by February
15.
Instead of describing the
Academy myself, I would like to share with you the thoughts of
one of our students from this past summer:
I truly cannot think of
a better way to have spent my summer. NRLC Academy equipped me
to be a much more effective voice for life on my college campus,
and I know that everything I learned will be invaluable to my
work with New York State Right to Life after graduation at the
end of this semester.
The program gave me a
much more in-depth understanding of life issues, especially the
new threats to human dignity in the form of legalized assisted
suicide and health care rationing, and prepared me to articulate
and defend the pro-life position much more confidently and
effectively. Moreover, the Academy was an incredible opportunity
to meet some great friends and true role models at NRLC. I would
recommend the program to anyone who wants to be an effective
advocate for life.
-- Natalie Fohl , McGill University
Today is Natalie’s first
day on the job as Office Manager and Youth Outreach Coordinator
at New York State Right to Life, after graduating from McGill
University and handing over her leadership of the Choose Life
group she started there. Academy graduates like Natalie are
advancing the pro-life movement across the country.
They are dynamic leaders
among their peers. One led the UNC Students for Life’s
involvement in North Carolina RTL’s educational activities this
fall while another is working to build a network of college
pro-life groups in North Dakota. Each in their own way is
helping to activate a new generation of pro-lifers.
The close-knit community
of Academy alumni is a microcosm of the movement—citizens from
all corners of the country, who would not even know each other
if not for the cause that stirred them to devote their summer to
learning about life. The ripple effect this small group of
students will have on the future of the pro-life movement is
something we cannot yet imagine.
This year’s program will
run June 22-August 5, 2011 in Washington DC. Do you know a
pro-life college student leader who sounds like a good fit for
our program? Please pass this story on to them. We encourage
interested students to apply by February 15. Applications are
available at
