Let's see. Sun rises in the
east; the moon is colder than
the sun; "women's groups" have a
conniption if someone dares to
suggest their "choice" is life.
Three examples of certainties in
this life that you can take to
the bank.
As many of you probably know,
CBS has agreed to air an ad
produced by Focus on the Family,
featuring Heisman Trophy winning
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow
and his mother, during the Super
Bowl. The price tag for 30
second ads is estimated at
between $2.5 million and $2.8
million.

The usual grumpy old women--NOW,
the Feminist Majority, something
called the Women's Media Center,
etc.--are calling on CBS to
abort the ad before its February
7 birthing. Nobody but a few
people at Focus, CBS, and the ad
agency know what's in the ad,
but for the usual suspects it's
guilt by association.
Focus is pro-life, ergo the ad
is pro-life, ergo "An ad that
uses sports to divide rather
than to unite has no place in
the biggest national sports
event of the year-- an event
designed to bring Americans
together," in the words of Jehmu
Greene, president of the New
York-based Women's Media Center.
The ad's theme, "Celebrate
Family, Celebrate Life," is
reason enough for
pro-abortionists to panic. Where
will all this radical rhetoric
end?
Focus spokesman Gary
Schneeberger said, "There's
nothing political and
controversial about it." He
added, "When the day arrives,
and you sit down to watch the
game on TV, those who oppose it
will be quite surprised at what
the ad is all about."
So far, CBS is sticking to its
guns. According to a story that
appeared yesterday in the
Associated Press, "CBS said it
has approved the script for the
30-second ad and has given no
indication that the protest
would have an impact." Dana
McClintock, a network spokesman,
said CBS would ensure that any
issue-oriented ad was
"appropriate for air."
No doubt NOW and their buddies
are concerned with the
inspirational message of Tim's
birth, often described as a
miracle. Pam and Bob Tebow
already had four kids and the
couple were missionaries in the
Philippines when Mrs. Tebow
became pregnant with Tim.
Pam Tebow contracted amoebic
dysentery which (she says on a
YouTube video) is a leading
cause of death in the
Philippines. Her physician
recommend an abortion which the
Tebows rejected.
"I just prayed, I said, 'God if
you want another preacher in
this world, give him to me and
I'll raise him,'" Bob Tebow said
to ESPN. "He's a miracle baby."

Tim Tebow's name is familiar
even to those who don't follow
football. He is an unabashed
Christian, wears his faith not
only on his sleeve but in Bible
verses in eye black, and is such
an incredibly decent human being
that entire websites have been
created just to try to find some
chink in his armor.
According to newspaper accounts,
"Tebow said he has deep
convictions on the abortion
issue because of his mother's
story."
Tebow said, "I know some people
won't agree with it, but I think
they can at least respect that I
stand up for what I believe." |
