Imminent Threat Needs Grassroots Response -- Part One of Two

Editor's note. Please send your comments to daveandrusko@hotmail.com.

The threat is occurring in Wisconsin, but pro-lifers nationwide must take heed. What pro-abortion legislators in the Badger State are trying to accomplish may well foreshadow what we will see on a massive scale in the years to come.

The objective of pro-abortion Wisconsin legislators is the repeal of s.940.04, the 150-year-old protective law that prohibits abortions in Wisconsin except when the mother's life is in danger. Why would they bother to go after a law that cannot be enforced because of Roe v. Wade?

To ask the question is to answer it. Once Roe is tossed into the ashcan of history, the battle over the shape of abortion law returns to the legislative branch.

Pro-abortionists fully understand that "Should Roe v. Wade be repealed, Wisconsin would be one of four states to immediately outlaw abortion," as the authors of the drive to repeal the statute have written. "This repeal is especially important now as forces work to outlaw certain abortion procedures with the goal of outlawing all abortions…."

True to form pro-abortion legislators both mislabel the bill --dubbing it the "Women's Health and Safety Act"-- and out-and-out lie about its impact--saying that women who have abortions will go to jail if abortion is outlawed. The latter assertion is particularly egregious, even by pro-abortion standards.  In 1985, the Wisconsin legislature enacted a provision which would make only the abortionist the criminal, not the woman.

In an alert recently sent out, Wisconsin RTL reminded its members that the organization "has been alerting pro-life people all over the state for two years that this alarming and devastating legislation would be attempted by Planned Parenthood and its allies."

But the threat is no longer theoretical.  It is now a reality.

However, Wisconsin RTL has a plan to stop pro-abortionists in their tracks. Although the remainder of this edition of TN&V refers specifically to people living in Wisconsin, what it asks of local pro-lifers is something you should know about AND pass along to pro-lifers you know living in Wisconsin.

With your help, Wisconsin Right to Life plans to deluge state legislators with constituent phone calls, letters, emails, and personal visits to protect s.940.04 so that unborn babies in Wisconsin will have a chance to live once Roe v. Wade is wiped out.  Action is likely to occur first in the State Senate because of its pro-abortion leadership.

You can help save a minimum of 9,500 human lives each year in Wisconsin by working with Wisconsin Right to Life to save s.940.04.  Please, please take a few minutes to act.  So many precious lives of unborn babies and the welfare of their mothers depend on you.

Please contact your State Senator IMMEDIATELY and urge him/her to SAVE s.940.04 of the statutes.

Although hamstrung by Roe, pro-lifers have done a magnificent job cultivating a culture of life in Wisconsin. Please do whatever you can to help them!
