It is only week
one and the action took place in only one House of
Congress, but nonetheless it's impossible to look back
at these last four days and not be encouraged.

Pro-Life House
Republican leaders were as good as their word.
Committees heard testimony on "The Protect Life Act"
(H.R. 358), and the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion
Act" (H.R. 3) and considered ways to cut off Title X
family planning money to Planned Parenthood, the largest
abortion provider in the United States. NRLC Federal
Legislative Director Douglas Johnson's testimony is must
reading (http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Feb11/nv021011.html).
During all this
there were a series of videos covertly taken by the
pro-life group Live Action at Planned Parenthood clinics
in New Jersey, Virginia, and the Bronx. What took place
in the Richmond, Virginia, clinic was representative.
"Our new video
shows their Richmond clinic willing to aid and abet the
sexual exploitation of minors and coaching a pimp about
how girls as young as 14 – 15 could circumvent parental
consent laws for secret abortions," Live Action
President Lila Rose said. "Watch the video – the clinic
worker admits they do this 'once or twice a month." PPFA
denounced the videos as "hoaxes" or "doctored," but
provided no evidence. The organization did, however,
fire the office manager of the New Jersey affiliate and
suddenly announced a plan to "retrain" personnel (http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Feb11/nv020811.html).
It is very, very
grim reading, but it is imperative that you read the
daily excerpts we've published from the Philadelphia
Grand Jury's scathing report on abortionist Kermit
Gosnell. He will be arraigned March 2 on eight counts of
murder, in addition to a host of other charges (http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Feb11/nv021011part2.html).
Returning to the
good news from this week, for the third time Hawaii
rejected an attempt to pass an assisted suicide law. In
fact, anti-assisted suicide forces are on a winning
streak (http://www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/SixCountries.html).
We also took time
to reflect on the legacy of pro-life President Ronald
Reagan. Gosh, do we miss him (http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Feb11/nv020411.html
and www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/Reagan100.html).
Perhaps most
encouraging of all, we ran a number of stories about
grassroots activities all over this great nation in
commemoration of the 38th anniversary of the dreadful
Roe v. Wade decision. Their inspired efforts make us all
proud to be pro-life (http://www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/NEWalkforLife.html;
http://www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/SCRally.html;
http://www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/VermontRally.html).
Have a great
weekend. We will talk to you Monday.
